Description
the Michigan Center on the Demography of Aging (MiCDA) and the Center for Aging Families (CAF) are co-hosting a conference on the changing demography of US families and implications for health and care in the second half of life June 3-4, 2027 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA.
Several ongoing demographic trends have led to shifts in the size and composition of older US adults’ family networks with implications for older adults’ health and meeting their daily care needs. The overarching goal of this conference is to bring together scholars interested in the changing demography of US families and implications for health and care in the second half of life. Topics of particular interest include those that link population-level changes in families and living arrangements of older adults to population health outcomes, including care needs and caregiving.
We expect to accept 8-10 papers and 8-10 posters. Plans are also underway to publish a special issue based on conference presentations and posters. Early career researchers are encouraged to apply. Abstract deadline: November 15, 2026.
